MOLANDS The early pegs from 1 – 13 were the best at the start of the week with F1’s, skimmers and carp showing to either pole fished down the first shelf with expander pellet or the method fished out to the island with dead reds or small pieces of meat. As the weather got cooler towards the weekend, the better pegs were around the Scarecrow Point or the early 50s’ with similar tactics working on these areas.
GEARYS There have been quite a few carp into double figures weighed in during matches this week with fish to 16lb 8oz recorded. Generally though, the fishing has been a little hard with the first frosts of autumn at the weekend. The high bank from 7 – 15 has been the most consistent area producing nets of skimmers mainly, but the odd carp also coming out with pole fished expander . Pegs 17 – 19 and 30 – 33 are the best areas for carp with straight lead and pellet or method feeder.
LITTLE GEARYS Despite the much cooler weather the outstanding tactic on Little Gearys is the shallow pole with banded hard pellet and this is catching F1’s between 12oz and 5lb. Paste down the edge or chopped worm and caster have also produced some good catches. The best pegs are 7 – 11, 17 – 21 and 25 – 28.
GRATUITIES The far side has been the best with pegs 10 – 14 producing tench, carp and crucians to pole fished pellet, worm or caster. Tench to over 5lb and carp to nearly 10lb have been reported by pleasure angle
