Dont know but I believe he had a lot of chub on gb feeder and maggot; I offered my congrats and did one! (time does fly doesnt it, i recall practicing with Peter (when he was a youngster) and his dad for the final at Hayfield 11 years ago!. As for myself Pump Lake was v poor for most, and many anglers struggled across the complex. pegging could have being better with large gaps for some and others (me!) crammed in, even in poor areas, shame.

My son fished the qualifier yesterday and said the pegging was very poor,he rarely complains about pegging so it must of been very poor,he said there where big areas left unpegged and areas that were very tight.the pegging should be checked and doubled checked to give everyone as good a chance as possible. 😡

I thought the pegging was fine, which might be because i drew a good un 😉

Seriously, if peggings done well there will be areas expected to be strong with every peg in & expected weaker areas with plenty of gap pegs. Trouble is it doesn’t always turn out as expected…. David Kent is a very experienced match organiser & IMHO one of the best, the unevenly spaced pegging will have been worked out with the venues management & will have been aiming for as fair a match as possible.

pegging left a lot to be desired I’m afraid, some anglers were on top of each other and others loads of space, disappointing!

Seems your outvoted Chris! As I said on the day you had nearly a whole island to yourself, where I was, in a poor area, 4 anglers all had a throws to an island that was about 10 m long, not good. I have a lot of time for David, not sure how much say he had with the begging but it was poor in areas. You can’t expect all pegs to give u a chance of a prize but intelligent pegging(blooming mobile phone!!!) can give more anglers a better days fishing.

I was on lake C, and as soon as I saw my peg I knew it certainly was not a flyer, however I did have empty peg/s either side of me, I dont know if they were in or not, but it made no difference it was just not a good area, but it was the same for everyone on that lake as it was never going to produce a winner, ok, so it possibly could have been pegged better all over but overall I thought it generaly well organised and fair, just remember its good we have people going to the trouble of organising matches like this so maybe we should stop complaining so much and just get on with fishing, and at least it did’nt rain. 🙂

My mate went, think he won lake b or something but anyway, he told me he could touch the blokes either side of him with his browning 11ft 6 wag rod. I’m glad i didn’t get a ticket for that qualifier!
