TF_scarfDope! You should have left them alone and used a rubber sleeve over the tip. Paint the sleeve black and you can remove it when conditions change.
In fact if you’d used a rubber sleeve earlier your lass wouldn’t be spending your pole money on a bigger car. -

TF_cormorantcasper,
get down to your local modelling shop and get a tin of base white matt and tins of the hi-viz yellow/orange/red that you need.
one or two coats of white and a coat of colour should obliterate the black you put on.
was the black you used a paint or a marker pen? if it was a marker than clean most of the black off with her nail varnish remover(don’t tell the wife) before you paint the tip.
good luck,
cormorant -

TF_Chris-turnerParticipanti have read about it before but often wondered if it effects the way the float perform i.e shotting and the way it sits in the water

TF_wiggley wormit does the job when dry then use a wet cloth to wipe it off try it for the cost of a pen cheaper than a new float or paint

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantYou can buy sleeves to fit the floats tip they look a bit of a pigs ear though drennan tuff eyes have changable tip trouble is they don’t offer much finesse

MaxIf you’ve got quite a few floats to re-paint, then I’d suggest CREATEX paint which you can get on ebay. It costs about £5.00 for a 60ml pot.
– opaque white as an undercoat
– fluorescent orange
– fluorescent yellowEven though it’s an airbrush paint, you get great results with a paintbrush. Two thin coats of white, and the same for the topcoat.

TF_JonniTimmsOut of interest, what colour tips are best for what conditions? All my tips are orange and i can really struggle to see my finer JDeez in certain conditions.

TF_Chris-turnerParticipantcouldnt really comment but i know what ya saying . i would say all or most of my floats are bought as orange and have never really given any thought into when to use a yellow 1.
orange and black are my most common colours i can tell you tht lol

TF_Chris-turnerParticipantDoes anybody use the pole tip sleeves to blacken them out if so do you think they effect the way the float sits and reacts?
