HI
Katcher I use a chair almost always for all my fishing these days even match fishing with a pole, and with some thought and a few tweaks it can be much better than a box for comfort and only marginaly more awkward.
I suffer with back problems and also have problems sitting comfortably for long periods after prostate surgery.
My set up is this, korum standard accesory chair, longer legs are a must unless your very short in the leg,a nash carp chair cushion for comfort,a universal footplate minus the footbars.
The footplate provides the framework for my preston pole support which can be used as a rest for feeder/float tactics, and will hold a pole keeper and other accesories.
A preston side tray is also used, i have never been a fan of spray bars prefering to hold the pole but with some experimentation the spray bar can be usefull and is there as an option should it be needed.
The footplate framework is used without the foot bars as i generaly fish on commies with flat level platforms and a full footplate is not needed it is however a must for housing the spray bar [pole support].
I am sure ther are other tweaks you could make i dont always have the chair back raised as it can be slightly easier for shipping back with it lowered.
I also have the korum wheel kit so its easily converted to trolly mode and will carry a fair amount of kit to your peg.
If you are suffering with back pain or discomfort from sitting this set up will make life much more comfortable belive me, you just need to take the time to customise it to you particular needs and preference.
If you google using a korum chair with a pole you will find pictures on another forum of a disabled anglers setup that is similar to mine apart from he uses a full footplate rather than removing the foot bars, hope this helps you and anyone thinking about going down this route.
