Pop up’s boilies not popping up

Tried this method for the 1st time today,but when checking my rig in shallow water the pop up boilies sank, I was fishing a small open-ended feeder tied to a Guru QM1 size 16 and a bayonet (cut down old hook)hook length was 15cm,with a ringers 8mm pop up even tried a 10mm but both sank! Am i doing something wrong ~think

Did the pop ups float without a hook in them?

yes mate… this is what i don’t get, was the hook and bayonet to heavy ? my main line was 6lb

Did you try hair rigging one conventionally? Ie with a hair loop as opposed to bayonet?
