I am fishing Porth reservoir in the Maver Festival during October.Any advice at all would be appreciated!Do I need chest waders, platfoms etc.? What rigs do you suggest I make up? How does this ferry for your tackle actually work in practise?I’ve never even seen the place so any information would be useful.

You need a platform but normal waders are ok, don’t need chest waders. Main rigs are 0.75 to 1.5G at 6 to 12ft deep. You just put your tackle on the boat when you get there and it takes it to the far side! Majes 2 or 3 trips so don’t worry if you miss the first! I’m not an expert on there, crap in fact, but it’s best to stick to 1 method, be it feeder, normally close in at about 30 turns, pole or waggler.

There was a lot of debate about Porth a few weeks ago. Check out this thread:

There’s one at Arrow Valley Redditch, skimmers on the waggler, by a master in the fine art of floatfishing…
