TF_SmeagleHi all,
A few weeks ago I was looking on the Gumtree classifieds site and came across an add which I jumped at cos the price was ”really good”.
It was for a Daiwa Spectron Pole, no top kits and missing it’s number 4 and a few pro reairs.
The price ? – £50
This ad was based in Worcester so local to me.
I thought it should be an easy deal; I pick up the kit and drop £50 off locally. But a few messages later I became a bit suspicious. The last message before I backed off read :-Hi Mick,
50 quid is the final price. Lots of interest on the ad a potential buyer from eBay came around today to see it, he sent a deposit but we couldn’t come to an agreement on the price. It’s hi’s loss and maybe your gain. Will be leaving for work now, my number is 0797*****52 low signal strength but you can leave a message. To save time I already packed it and left it with Parcel Force for a possible delivery, put in the original purchase receipt as well. If interested just contact me with questions and we’ll take it from there.
Ta,
Aly.It just didn’t seem right so I left it.
Yesterday, I’m on the Gumtree site again and came across an add for a Maver 371, no breakages, a few top kits and all good. The price ? – £130
This time the add was from Cumbria, so a postage question was put forward.
I sent the relevant message and recieved a not very straight forward answer (again) and finally got a message back via e mail saying…. (yes you guessed)…Hi Mick,
130 quid is the final price. Ta,
Aly.Just letting y’all know. I’m not judging this seller (much) , but I smelt a Rat and no Fish.

diddly-squattParticipantHi, I went on Gumtree and was interested in a 16m Daiwa G8 and had the some e-mails from a woman in Leeds saying I had to pay the courier (UPS)???
Became suspicious and backed away.
But I did by one from a guy in Brum and got to view it before parting with the cash so it ain’t all bad. -
