Hi, I`ve recently been having problems when using micro pellets on the method feeder. They seem to be sticking in the mold when using the preston method molds. I have tried using that sonubaits stikky pellet stuff but it seems to make it worse. I never used to have the problem its just been recently. I buy my micro`s (skrettings) in bulk so its not like I`ve changed my pellets? Do you think I could be either over or under wetting the micros? Also how long before the all in do you dampen your micro`s? Last question, do you think maybe adding a bit of groundbait to the pellets may help? Thanks for any reply`s. Bear

ive been using a pellet method a lot recently and havent had any problems i just cover micros with water for 2 minutes then drain off leave for 20 minutes a give a good stir round and thats all.

never had a problem with em sticking but yes a little sprinkle of dry groundbait in the mould first will help…
also scratch the inside of the mould with a bit of sandpaper cos it could be that its “too new”

as for the micros, best way ive found to do em is put them into a air tight container just not quite full, fill with water right upto the top, put lid on and forget about em. stick em in the fridge if its the night before or leave em in the tub if your doing it first thing.
when you open the tub it will be like a solid cake, knock it out into baittub/bowl and they will be spot on!

I used to have this problem a lot until a mate told me to smear the inside of the feeder every now and then with a drop of fish oil (any of the ones the bivie divies use). I use omega 3 oil and have NEVER had the pellets stick since.

As Redarmy says and never had a problem with them. 2 mins in the water, drain off and leave whilst your setting up – perfect!

Thanks guys,,its weird because I never have had any trouble up until recently, my method mould is quite old now and its seen a fair bit of use this past 12 months, maybe its been the way I`ve been preparing my micro`s? I did used to do them in an air tight container after I saw Darren Cox on tightlines showing this method, don`t know why I stopped? Thanks for the replies 😀

Not all pellets are the same.My mate uses skrettings and has just had the same problem so maybe they have put out a bad batch

the best way to do the pellets i have found is the air tight container method but clean the mould and then put some oil on it and this should cure the problem.

Cheers lads, will have a look at getting some fish oil and giving that ago if the problem persists.

Different sacks of Skrettings seem to vary a lot. I have had good batches where I have had no trouble at all and one sack where they didn’t stick at all well! It didn’t matter how long they were soaked they just went ‘spongy’ and you couldn’t squeeze them into a ball, they just ‘bounced back’ into their original size and shape. Those I cured by adding a little fish meal or groundbait and they then stuck together nicely. Didn’t seem to make much difference in the fish pulling stakes.

The ingredients on the side of the bag were identical in all cases so it must either be a variable in one of the ingredients or someone’s hand slipped when pouring something in! 🙂
