Just bought some Hillbilly shindigs which are excellent floats Ive had some others for 4 years now cant fault em just im gradually running low on them, my question is Why are the patterns smaller ? Ive bought .3 & .4s and they are the same pattern size as my older .2 & .3s ? Is this just down to new materials been more boyant etc will they take the same load .They do look good mind a lot slimmer profile. Thanks Anthony

          Anthony,

Neil’s changed the foam he uses for a denser stronger one so the float’s have been upgraded. I have the originals too and its strange that the new ones take more shot and are smaller in size when compared.
But they still work brilliantly just need him to make some with wire stems now as i think they’d be great. 😉

            Hi Anthony,
Like Poleangler says I have improved the Shindigs by using a lightweight low density but very strong foam for the bodies instead of balsa and a carbon stem instead of a glass one. These changes have enabled me to make the bodies smaller for the floats shotting size which reduces the area that any flow in the water has to push on. Also of course the closed cell foam does not take on water like balsa would if the float suffers any damage. I am always looking to improve patterns with new materials etc and hope you are happy with the new style ones. – Neil.

Should have added that the new HB website which is under construction will show all the latest versions (materials + finishes) of my floats along with a few new models and the new sizes I have added to some current ones. Some suitable models will also be offered with a choice of eye type so purchasers can customise the floats to their requirements.

Thanks Neil, they are a tidy bit of kit looking forward to using them. Also just One more question what pattern would you recomend for fishing shallow 2 -3ft deep on a venue that tows a bit ?
                Thanks Anthony

What bait are you thinking of Anthony and are you fishing up in the water or on the deck ?

6mm meat or pellet shallow fishing 14.5m 3ft deep in 7ft of water, theres a fountain airiator thats permantly running and it creates quite a bit of tow

I would use a Shady Shallow for that and just keep laying the rig in again as soon as the float starts moving. Trouble with flow from airiators is that it’s only the surface water that is moving so the only way to stop the float moving is to hold it on a tight line to the end of the pole.

Ive got some Shady shallows, but do you do a bigger version something that would take 6/8 no 10 stotz ?

Not at the moment Anthony but I do have something like that on my “things to do” list.
