The first 3 weeks of the season on the Yare have all produced good weights and todays match was no exception. 71 anglers fished

        1st Mike Wittaker on peg 22 with 80lb 12oz
2nd Mark Pollard, the local one, peg 23 with 60lb 2oz
        3rd Eddie Davison peg 61 with 54lb 12oz
        4th Terry Smith peg 63 with 45lb 11oz
        5th Kevin Paynter peg 34lb 0oz
        6th Doug Bottley 31lb 5oz

The section weights are also impressive
        22 to 30 29lb 8oz
        43 to 53 25lb 3oz
        61 to 69 23lb 0oz
        70 to 79 30lb 0oz
        86 to 93 20lb 8oz
        94 to 103 28lb 4oz
        111 to 118 28lb 8oz
        136 to 144 29lb 4oz

So as can be seen the fish are reasonably well spread throughout the match length but an end peg is a definite advantage. The bream are mostly from 6oz to 2 1/2lb but go to 6lb so there are of bites. The roach are still there but you need bream to win.

No real reason why you shouldn’t. Many a time in the past I have fished Rutland or the Witham and Welland even the Trent for the day, too old now, I couldn’t trust myself not to fall asleep driving home 🙁 😮 . How did the tidal Trent fish?

Its finding time thats the problem for me as i have so many match to run around here this season.

the tidal trent is still quite peggy to be honest although the fishing does seem to be improving a little.

I won it with 25lb4oz from peg 2 at north clifton. 4 bream for 16lb, 3 skimmers, 3 hybrids, 3 roach, 2 eels, 1 perch, 1 dace and a gudgeon.all to my favourite groundbait feeder worm & caster.
19lb 2nd, 15lb10oz 3rd, 15lb9oz 4th, 13lb14oz 5th then 12lb odd. lots of double figure catches but these were generally made up with a big bream or 2.

The flood water that keeps getting into it seems to be the problem, i dont think that these fish know whether they are coming of going!

its the festival this weekend and the first time this season that we will see big tides, so fingures crossed its something like last season!

there shall be a full report on here in the next day or 2.
