Heard the reason from a good source but I’m not going to say what happened….Shame though although I think it’s PI’s loss and Fox’s gain TBH.
Good luck Ricky

would fit in well with most UK tackle companies then
why do we put up with it, it doesnt happen with the foreign companies
he knows where preston buy their gear so we’ll all be using fox pole rollers within 2 years or well all be using Dragon gear by then.

TF_Dr.PhilKnow 3 shops in the Midland area who had big problems with PI (THATS NOT PICKING ON PI AS ALL SUPPLIERS ARE THE SAME)….but the fundamental thing that p”ssed them off was the attitude that came out from the Telford base.
It did’nt come from RT ,it came from the back room but saying that RT should have controlled it.
Know shops that have supported PI since there conception only to be dumped , thats the nature of the business.
If TP does front the company then its only a positive move as TP is a gentleman and respected. -

TF_welshmagicI had a problem with a Preston product before. Top section of an 11ft mini 2 piece rod snapped on the strike,2 weeks after purchasing. Rang PI and the service was the worst I’ve ever had from any company, and that includes non-angling based companies. The person on the phone was rude, abrasive and completely uninterested. Her attitude was ‘it’s not our fault,it’s yours- deal with it’. It wasn’t so much her stance, it was the manner in which she spoke to me.
I then sent a letter of complaint but unsurprisingly never heard a thing back from them.
Shame as I used to be a big fan of Preston gear but their customer service is abysmal.

They should have been polite to you and advised you to contact the place where you purchased it from. The shop should have then managed the return with Preston.
If you buy a TV from a retailer and it packs in do you ring the manufacturer direct? If you did they would advise you to contact the retailer where you purchased it from.
Still not nice to receive such bad feedback from them. They could easily have sorted it by been polite and request you contact the dealer where you purchased the rod from

RivestPersonally I have never had a issue with PI from what I can remember, the level of service has always been good, I recently ordered some extra trays for my spacestation, on arriving they were the wrong ones – the shops fault not PI, a quick phone call from the shop soon sorted it out and replacement received within a couple of days.
With any issues with faults/issues it has to be directed to the shop where purchase was made in the first instance, they are the agent after all.
When I buy a panasonic DVD player from tesco then find out it doesn’t work, do I phone panasonic or go straight back to tesco with who I have made the purchase with?
This isn’t just about PI stuff but in generally everyone seems to want to have a moan about something.
The other thing which really get on on nerves is 2k poles for sale after a week of ownership, if I was spending that money I’d be making sure its the right pole, I wouldn’t be losing 500 quid in a week, if its not used take it back to the shop and get your money back, unless of course its on finance….sorry rant over – man flu.

TF_paulDFunny how weve all got our favorites and hates with tackle companies. Some wont buy Preston but other guys will buy anything with prestons name name on, good or crap. Same for Diawa. Too many of us are sheep and just buy a brand cos they belive what they read in the papers. The carp boys are even worse than us.
I used to be one of the PI sheep but had some bad experinces so now buy other brands. Im having a bit of a love affair with with Browning and Middy at the mo – very good gear but not fashionable – but who cares. I phoned browning in germany last summer about a section and got an english voice and service as good as youd get from Tescos – I didnt mention the war though ~naughty

TF_Dr.PhilJT was a really nice person you could approach at PI…..biggest mistake when he left due to a power struggle i would think.
Maybe we see a FOX (if that is where Ricky has gone) festival at whiteacres soon ?
Maybe a FOXSPACE-STATION soon ?
🙂

lewisRegardless of where Ricky ends up, he’ll do a fantastic job. Best of luck to him. Broken rods are usually handled by customer services, not company directors!
