As Kagger said, the reason is the death of Keith Ford and the birth of Wilson-Sutter junior as explained in the earlier post kagger linked to. Ironic in a way, but the cycle of life goes round and round!
The River hasn’t fished quite so well this season in my opinion. The top weights have still been very good but the back up weights haven’t been so good in my opinion. Every section was won with over 20lb last year but this year there have been quite a few 15 to 20lb section wins. Last year I could make mid double figure weights from any peg, this year I have been catching quite a few 6 to 8lb weights. Don’t get me wrong, it is still one of if not the best river in the country for a few weeks in the summer and the lack of reporting has nothing whatsoever to do with the lower weights but the fish seem to be migrating already. There was hardly a skimmer caught for the last couple of weeks but 29lb pound of roach won the week before and 27lb of roach won this weekend. You still needed 20lb to frame (top 5) both weekends. Still brilliant fishing but my section was won with 9lb and the section below me won with 7lb this weekend.
