  Whatever they’ve done, they’ve come a long way since the world champs in ’94 at Holme Pierrepoint, when they turned up wearing camo gear, with a small bag and a 10ft rod each!

  Russia had 2 cases of bending the rules, according to sources:
  
  A: Wrapping the hooklength round the feeder to shorten the hooklength.
  
  B: Using a line counter to measure the distance of the cast during competition
  
  Albeit I’m not fond of any rule bending, I think it’s difficult to suspend a full team, and in the end the Russians caught a lot of fish, so I suppose they deserve their gold medals
  
  It’s also the first year of the feeder world champs, and I expect the rules to be changed a lot in the future.

  How can a team get disqualified TWICE and still win? Makes it a bit of a joke.

  I can’t recall a team has ever been disqualified, so it would be a bigger upset if russia were disqualified than if they were not.
  
  At the EC in Poland a guy was keeping his fish in a bucket, rather than a keepnet, which was also against the rules. His team wasn’t disqualified either.
  
  I’m sure the rules will be updated for next year, so this is more thoroughly described

  Useless team selection best two anglers in the team were best performers. Other anglers in the team just making the numbers up.
  
  Sounds harsh but considering some of the nations that beat England never even fish a feeder it’s all a bit of a joke.

  Given how good the Eastern Europeans seem to be at catching fish from our rivers [mostly on the lead I might add] I’m just surprised those countries didn’t fill the top 10 places 😮
