TF_joffmiesterthere is never a right time to put sad news on web-site’s but early this morning a great friend of everyone in the angling world past a way STEVE TOONE Nottingham based[ripoff tooney] probably the first man to bring competitive angling to TV in the central classic at home pierrepont a great match organiser throughout the hay day of 300 peg matches trent, holme pierrpont, evesham,Welland, attenborough pits and in the last few years the river soar i think Steve was always a river man at heart never one to hold back on what he thought and give him a bad peg ,first you’d get the look and then you would be told .but always a cheeky smile as he walked away
two weeks ago on the sensas teams of four Steve took me to one side and said “joff i’ve not got long left on this plant” i replied with one hand on his shoulder “i’m very sorry to hear that” [not really knowing what to say ]Steve then replied” so give a crappity smacking good peg then”we both smiled
well Steve you now have the choice of what ever peg you want now mate .top bloke a great laugh and angling is going to miss you -
