TF_IanSHi
I’m thinking of getting a new seat box and wondered what the consensus was and advice amongst the commercial matchmen out there? Currently have tournament pro (the blue one) and previously had black Boss box. I was thinking of the Diawa 400.
Any advice and thoughts really appreciated
Cheers

TF_CutnutBefore buying any box consider the following:
1. Will it fit in my car?
2. Do I have a barrow or trolley that’s compatible or does it have it’s own?
3. Are the fittings robust, some of the knobs can’t take overtightening and split apart.
4. Is the seat cushion too soft or too hard? Both will give you sore glutes/ bad back.
5. Is the height of the seat adjustable in relation to the footplate? The ideal is for your knees to be in line with your hips and not below or above. Above and your circulation is impaired, below and you will end up with a bad back for sure.
6. Are the draws/compartments enough for your tackle needs.
7. Are the legs compatible with after market accessories or do you get enough add ons with it?
8. Am I impressed by the makers name and buying it because of that rather than considering the build quality?
9. Can it take my weight? Particularly if you stand up on the footplate, and does it feel steady?
10. Does the wife or partner understand that you just have to have it, or can you smuggle it in the back door? 😉The Daiwa looks the part, but It appears to have the same sort of knobs that were prone to splitting and leaving you with just a bolt head, if you had been a bit of a Shrek in tightening.

TF_IanSThanks for all the great advice so far fellas
I fish predominantly commercials, current Diawa Pro box is fine, key issue on this box for me is that it just has the little star type wheels on the legs and extensions and they slip too often and jam together and if this happens before a match you need tools to get them apart!!!
I have a trolley but was looking at boxes that have the trolleys that come with the boxes
Looked at Rive boxes, look great but can’t justify that spend when comparing the differences to other boxes I think, which was why I was considering the 400 being happy with the Diawa pro box, bar the knobs and the commens re the 400 knobs is a little worrying.
Also looking for something that can take all the extras ie spray bars, feeder arms etc
Happy to spend £350 ish which is what the 400’s go for
Thanks all -

TF_macca63Another consideration is does it leak like a sieve when it rains?
I had a Milo Tardis for 4 years whilst it was a stong and robust box I got fed up with the drawers filling up with water when it rained (I don’t use a brolly I hasten to add) but not had any problems since switching to the Fox MSB due to the seals on the drawers, also the drawers don’t stick either.
Some great deals to be had on these boxes due to the Matrix rebranding it seems shops want to get rid of the old stock.
