seatbox height between the foot plate & seat

I am thinking of a replacement seatbox, looking on ebay and a lot (diawa & Preston) appear as if the height between the foot plate & seat cannot be ajusted, I thought this would be vital, how do owners of these seatboxes get their seating position right? which box should I avoid?

I think a lot of boxes with the casette type foot platform are awkward as you have to add or reduce trays to get the right hight this means that you may not have the configuration that you wanted to have in trays drawers etc I use a good old tournament not perfect by any means but with the folding footplate at least i can have the footplate sloping up an inch or two to make it spot on for long pole work, however some boxes do have adjustable casette style footplates just need to have a look at all the models currently available.

Thanks Fred, I will have to check out which boxes are adjustable before bidding on ebay, The point you made about sloping your footplate do you have the front higher for long pole work?

I bought a Milo box with the cassette type footplate, I still have it and its a great box but I did have to buy an m8 module to give me more height distance away from the foot plate then guess what happens, your side try sits lower than it should so you do right considering things through

yes I do rich only slightly, I did play around with taking a unit off however then it was too low so I adjust the footplate slightly and that sorts it, preferably you want to be able to adjust the height of the footplate, however on boxes where you can I havern’t been best pleased with the configuration as they normally have front drawers and no storage :rolleyes:

This was one of the key considerations I had in mind when deciding to buy the Fox MSB Euro 1. Height adjustment from the footlate is completely independent and means you can adopt whatever tray/drawer configuration you want and still sit with the correct angles at your knees. I suffered a bad back before getting this box: no more since!
