I have just bought a Sensas 774, totally over the moon with it…………………

        Question is this…………..
What is the differnce between each colour kit…i.e….Blue, Yellow, Green, ?
Which ones are which?, match, power etc etc etc ??

        Thanks
        Baz

dunno, have you looked on sensas’ website? can’t you tell by the look and feel of them?

silver and black are competition kits, the lightest rated to about a number 8

the yellow and green kits (3 peice green) are match kits, rated to 12

blue are the big fish kits, a bit like a top 3 power kit

            red are power/carp top kits

and another green, but with UK power on them….it’s big and hard to miss on the section…., are a lighter power kit

            hope that helps

and as you got a 774….

the green in the pole is a match kit, as are the yellow stickered ones

the Uk powe top kits have it written on them

then u have a big fish top 4 which is about the same as a power kit, and i use the big fish number 4 on the pole for carping, putting the match or original number 4 on for everything else.

Having said that, I know some people use the match 4 and match top kits for carping and have had no problems.

Yellow are match kits. Green are power kits. Blue are extra strong power kits.

                  🙂

This is only partially correct…. the information from “wildinguk” is spot on.

If it is an older 774 you may have a completely different package, especially the green 4 and 5 in the pole, but also the top kits and spare 4’s.

If it is a new one, with UK power tops, the 4 and 5 in the pole will be a match 4 and 5.

If your pole is older and came with competition (silver) and carp (red) top kits, the 4 and 5 will be competition.

Top kits, strength and weight, lightest and least strong first:

Competition (black and silver 3 piece) 8 rating (avoid unless you have any)
Match (yellow and 3 piece green) 12 rating (will take black hydro with 1 out)
Big fish (blue 3 piece) 16 rating with 1 out 15h
UK Power (green 2 piece, has UK power written on it) 16 rating 17h, bendy
Carp (red 2 piece) (avoid, too heavy, will take any elastic, good for fishing very short/edge)

                    PoDd 🙂

I loved my 774’s. I’ve had 4 over the years! I always just used a yellow (match) top 5 (with the 1 out) for everything up to soft black hydro or 13h hollo.

Big fish top 5 for 15h/Purple.

I’ve just moved to a Gmax 1000 for a change tho! Much simpler to understand! but i miss things like the hand markers on the butt sections etc etc…..774 is a top pole and great value!

i use my match kits too for both white and grey hydro.

Anything above goes in big fish or uk power top kits, though in part that’s because I still do alot of fishing on natural waters so my lighter top kits have small elastics through them for that.

Unlike PoDd i happily use comp kits too, with elastics up to a 5 solid, and I love em. They are really light, very stiff and responsive, if not very strong, and are perfect for silvers. If you do alot of silver fishing, then I’d contemplate getting a comp top 5 for the pole and some comp top 3’s and 4’s, if it’s mostly commercial fishing though I wouldn’t bother.

One purchase I made, which I like for proper carp, is I got a big fish number 5 and use this when I am targeting bigger fish….more as an insurance against anything happening to the number 5 that came in the pole than anything, just gives me a littler extra confidence.

The power match margin is also a good buy if you do some margin fishing, very light and will take some serious abuse, and at 120 quid without any top kits isn;t going to break the bank, or comes with an extra carp heavy top kit for 150.

just realised my description of the margin makes it sound like you get no top kits, it’s 120 qithout extra top kits and comes with a carp/power kit as standard.
