Got an Airity 3012 & a TDR 3012 ther both squeaky on the retrieve, I want to give them a spray but dont want to use the wrong stuff, what should I use PTFE silicone, WD40, 3 in 1 ?

it will most likely be the roller on the bail. Undo, no need to dismantle, squirt with silicone, tighten up, wipe excess off. if this doesn’t work you can undo it but take care it all goes back as it came in. 🙂

Ant I would’nt use WD 40 it tends to dry out, maybe some thing like sewing machine oil.

Thanks for replies, Lump I know what you mean when you say take care ! I once took a Diawa autocast reel to bits, there were springs, clips and bits everywhere terrible experience the most I will do nowadays is give em a quick spray !!!

PTFE super lube or a teflon one.

3 in 1 will do but won’t last

Just make sure you get any grit away from the bearing/moving surfaces or you will just end up with a grinding paste and make matters worse.

Thanks for replies, Im thinking the amount of spray washing upliquid and water I put on my spools especially when meat feeder fishing has removed the lubricant on the bearing overtime.

Daiwa have always had super service when it comes to servicing their reels…

                    Usually a 24 hour turn around…

Don’t know what they charge for a service these days, but at least it would be done correctly

Would be worth the expense imo 🙂
