Been using Shimano Silk Shock for years now with no problems, moved over to the new stuff and all I seem to be getting is line breaks, anyone else having the same problem because at the moment I’m beginning to think the new stuff is garbage.

funny you should post this…i dropped my 0.16 G line in and went to get some but they only had silk shock aspire or whatever it is, lost a few tench recently on a short range feeder set up. I’ll get some G line this week.

Thought it was me drawbag but totally agree with what you say. Spoke to a tackle dealer about it and he said it’s the same stuff just re branded. I’m not so sure gone to G line now.

Been a massive fan and user of the original antares silk shock..had some of the new stuff.and to be honest it does not cut the mustard.it seems very brittle to me..original antares strength at 0.12 was 1.980 kg,s…the aspire is 1.8 kg,s..n so on….no confidence in this now.

I’ve been using the shimano line for years and bought a load of the new stuff and not had a problem with it? Most weekends the line is catching me close around 100lb and ive not had any breakages switching lines? All in your head….dodgy rig tying if you ask me 😉

Brittle is not a word I would associate with line Yamma but thinking about it you are spot on.

Just compared the breaking strain with all the old stuff and new stuff and it’s all snapping at around the same? Also the line looks exactly the same as each other and i cant spot the difference, if you ask me theyve just re packaged it!
