Got a little match coming up – fished it a couple of weeks ago and it responded to the feeder at 25-30m; about as far as you could cast on the day as it was so windy and this impacted on getting a proper impression.

If anyone can advise – does it respond to sweet or fishmeal groundbait?

What range would you normally fish the feeder?

Can fish be had on the pole and is it bream / skimmers again or roach etc?

        cheers

Our match last saturday was won with 30lb 8oz of bream and skimmers caught mainly on the pole. 2nd place was 25lb odd of the same. They both fished pellet. We had 20 pegs from the car park corner up the long side of the first pond and these two weights were probably about peg 6 and 8. I was end peg 20 and probably too far up for my liking. I set up 2 rods, a 30m chuck and a big chuck on the braid but never had a decent pull on the latter. I also put 10 eds in at 11m to see what would happen but it probably killed it straight away as I never had a bite over that either. Cupped 2 big pots of micros in at 13m and had 2 small skimmers on pellet but nothing else. If I hadn’t have balled it originally the pellet may have worked. Finished with 10lb odd all caught on shorter chuck either double red or red mag and worm. Fish my usual fishmeal mix in feeder and tried a sweet mix on pole line. Fished on after the match and caught another 6 skimmers on hair rigged 6mm skret chucking down exactly the same hole! Live and learn I suppose!
