Squat shallow

I’m going to be doing quite a bit of Squat fishing in the next couple of months (boo hoo) on the Grand Union, the idea in general I’ve been told is to find 2 ft of water and then chase the fish up the shelf. Can anyone recommend a float pattern for chasin them up the shelf and wind millin.

always used a wire stem float something like a kc carpa canal should be ok.oh and make sure you get some sourbrans squatt fishing with them turns your day to gold hth

For short lining – Mick Bassett Squatt or On The Drop. If bagging the a long line whip will increase catch speed. With wider stretches of the GUC then a waggler can do a splendid job.

Garbolino ds16 are good in that depth of water. That’s what I use for fishing right over on the squatt.

Richard Latimer the squatt float. Polly and the Image/Future lads based their squatt float designs on the Latimer float.

Be kind to your squatts. Feed em up on a slice of bread coated in milk and watch them grow (if they are fresh)
