Stick float and Bolo Rigs

Hello all.

Hoping for some advice regarding making stick float and bolo rigs on winders.

Would like to know what length you make the rigs and the best way of attaching to main line.

Was wondering if rigs are made longer than the rod if the knots would interfere with casting or is it best to shorten the rig to suit the depth of water and length of rod.

I am hoping to fish the River Classic matches at Shrewsbury this year and was thinking of pre-tying rigs to save a bit of time etc. Any advice would be useful. Thanks.

I’m no expert, but i would make them the legnth of the rod out of the same mainline you intend to use on the reel, then you can shorten as necessary. With the floats being attached top and botton will be easy to love the float past the connecting loop anyway.
