TF_jonoI drew on one of the new lakes , beeches?! Struggled for first 3 hrs on pellet and maggot. Tried a piece of worm and had a fish a chuck for last 2 hrs. Weighed in 22 kilo for 2nd on lake. The lad who just beat me for the section ended up 5th overall. Just shows you do your own thing sometimes for better results.

TF_unlucky19Never hear of anyone using worm on there as I follow results .
Just think if like you said did your own thing .
You may have got the lake win .. -

AnonymousLike Jono, i was on the new lakes – Sycamore 15 – i planned on an all out pellet approach after watching the results over the last few weeks. 3.5 hours into the match and i had about 5kg in the net – i seen the bloke behind me on beech chopping some worms – (probably you Jono) and then start getting a fish a chuck – i did the same and ended up weighing in 16.700 which i was told was secod on my lake as well – the bloke who won our lake was facing me and caught mostly shallow on pellet.
It’s a top fishery and i cant wait to get on the series there in July.

TF_jonoHi dave , was you in the corner on sycamore? I was one off the corner on beech , but first angler. Andy north was nearest angler to me on sycamore. I hardly fed any worm , just feeding micros and a few maggots. I couldnt believe the difference worm on the hook made , and the size of carp was better as well. Im just kicking myself for not trying it earlier , but all the lake was struggling for just odd fish. First time i fished oaks thou so will be wiser next time, one of the best venues ive fished.

TF_andynorth2003ParticipantYeah, I was on Sycamore 13 and could not believe how hard the lake fished.
Not sure if it was down to the pressure of so many fishing it, as I dont think it usually gets pegged as tight or the rain we have had recently, which knocked it on the head?
Having fished the new lakes a few times, its normally straight forward fishing, with pellet on long pole being the way to go.
Got a few fish on pellet, but no where near as fast as needed to compete.
Lad to my right had about two fish in the first hour, he’s not a bad angler at all, so it was clear this was either a bad area to draw or just that it was not fishing well. He packed up shortly after.
Thinking about it, the new lakes were never gonna compete with the winning weight on the day and really you could only qualify (like Neil Machin did) if the rest of the complex fishes badly and 80-90lb wins.
Only Partridge and Lindolme left this year, so good draw needed big time!! -
