Another excellent match at this inform fishery despite the gale force winds and torrential rain 62lb 14oz was only good enough for 13th place. Ben Holmes drew the famous bore hole peg 31 but because of the wind couldn’t fish the usual long pole up in the water method, he fished the pole and meat at 7m landing over 20 carp – 10lb steady all match just managing to top the list with 105lb 4 oz. 2nd place went to Alan Warren at sheltered peg 19 he fished the pole and pellet and meat out at 11m also landing over 20 carp – 10lb for 105lb 10oz. 3rd place went to Barnsley’s Steve Barrowclough fishing the pole out and down the margin he also returned a ton weight with 25 carp – 8lb for a total of 104lb 5oz

With some of the best anglers in the county fishing this match it was always going to be a high scoring and a tight match, Andy Birkin started the match casting a pellet feeder with pellet on the hook tight to the island landing 10 carp before a change to the pole and pellet fished at 11m landing a further 20 carp – 10 making up his catch of 103lb 3oz. Nothing separating the next two Ben Holmes at peg 26 started off on the pellet feeder cast to the lily pads and later in the match fished the pole and pellet for carp – 8lb. Alan at peg 21 fished the pole and meat at 12m and had a late run of carp – 10lb to finish level with Ben on 94lb 12oz. The Angling Times league leader Geoff Bennett finished next to last with 41lb 4oz from hot peg 19.
