To leave feeding fish or not, do you rest a swim, honestly ?

Scenario I think I get a bit pre occupied when I start catching a few fish from 1 of my lines, I tend to catch what I can from one line then look elsewhere,there a big difference in oppinion on this some top anglers will say never leave feeding fish others will tell you look elsewhere while you still have a few fish in the swim, whats everyones thoughts honestly, not the ideals you read in magazines, what do you do ? ( im not talking about scratching for fish in winter either where you have to fish where you get bites, im talking general fishing)

the only time i will ever leave feeding fish is if i see a big lump down one of my edge lines, pick that out and then go back to the feeding fish…
only happens in my sleep though :confused:

I have written numerous articles talking about coming off feeding fish to keep that line going. Quite often i will spend ten minutes biteless elsewhere just to rest my one good line.

when u feel like its dying or u think you’ve caught a lot of fish from that line just give it a rest for ten mins or so which gives you chance to have a look on those other lines youve been feeding but keep feeding it just a little to give the fish confidence and then go back and have another look on it its the same on all your lines just keep rotating when u feel they drift off

A lot depends on how many fish you might ‘need’ though. If you only need one or two then it is sometimes worth perservering with a dying line.

Time spent at Tunnel Barn teaches you to rotate. There, if you don’t get an indication in 30 seconds you swap swims!

THe other thing is the line’s location: Shallow lines or lines next to a feature are more likely to get a ‘spook’ reaction so therefore you are better off coming off them as you are probably not fishing in a swim with any fish in it. Drop to a secondary line and you may bag a fish or two while the fish return to your main line.
