ROPA put a link on the thread about distance feeder rods to a fishing video site.
Ive been having a look through the clips and saw this one.

Would you fish the feeder sitting so close to someone ?

Paul , the continenetals fish this type af match regularly, they call it a pairs match when both anglers fish the same swim. A bit different to our pairs matches where we fish different pegs. They also practice for matches this way, when 2 anglers will fish the same peg but with different baits, etc. I`ve fished one of these matches in Germany and lets say it`s a bit different, but interesting!!!

Joff, first time I fished a match this style, everybody was commentng on how far away I was from my partner. He was a German angler from one of their tackle shop teams. I didn`t realise you were both supposed to fish the same swim, and I was making him chuck one way, so I could chuck the other. Totally against the purpose of the match. It`s unreal over their because the Germans make a day of it with their families. They don`t fish matches as often as we do, and it is more of an occasion with a relaxed atmosphere and very very friendly. There is picnics on the banks behind you with family members making you sandwiches and drinks. Bit like down your way Joff, but nobody knicks yer gear!!!!

i know what you mean ropas the french are just the same its a brilliant atmosphere even the sensas final. i was invited to the angler picnic next to me it was proper as well loved it
our match calendar down here is rammed with up and coming winter leagues but the trouble is if you pick the wrong one your stuck and often turn out with me be 10 teams in each league where as if they all got there heads together you’d have one .i say it time and time again if we had a organising body of anglers that could organise set matches throughout the year and anyone wanting to run a series of matches should put them forward to this body instead of fishing from pillar to post
