All things considered what are the top 5 poles of all time?

Tournament Pro, gets my vote as best ever. Closely followed by Spectron Comp. Both poles have been around for years and I reckon will be around for many more and have both proved themselves over and over again.

Shimano Diaflash IIRC ? Tri Cast pole back in the day? Browning Red Spiral Titanum?

I have not had a lot of poles but seen a few, my TPRO is about as good as any I have seen, for sure stronger than the G10. Not had a wiggle of an Airity. I guess for lightness, stiffness, strength it’s going to be hard to beat

Dawa Harrier HHP and Daiwa Tournament X (original) for me. Both light years ahead of the competition in their day.

                  Maver K47.

Think it was the first to employee fusion kits.
Tapered sections which improved shipping back and it also had a grey suncore finish which stopped the carbon getting too hot when sunny.

Browning Red Spiral Titanum and the Maver Super Litium 201 was a superb pole. Both were strong and the Maver was incredibly thin at 14.5m which I used to fish it at occasionally. It was relatively heavy of course. Doesn’t compare with modern poles for lightness of course but at the time it was the dogs.

For the older poles i,d say.
                      futron
                      mactron
                      quartzlite
                      xrs
                      powermaxim

another vote for the spectron comp.i still have mine in the loft and couldn’t bear to part with it.

my top 5 would be spiral red titanium, quartzlite, power maxim. spectron and browning z9.I must admit I still use the spectron today and it’s not out of place on the bank and still cuts the mustard just about

I see the Quartzlite has been mentioned a couple of times, but the better pole was the Triana 2540,same mandrel but much stronger!
Tourny x has gotta be up there,at the same time the Triana Grande Slam 7000 & Future Extreme were awsome & compared favourably.Agree with the Tourny Pro & Spectron, top poles & no vast improvement, since.

I had a good look at a Tourney pro X on the bank the other day, although I didnt actually get to fish with it and I have to say it looked amazing.

The early Mavers were great silver fish poles even if they turn to dust easily.I still use my E51 sometimes. At the other end of the scale the original purple xrs has to be a beasting classic…still use that to on snaggy swims with big carp as a margin pole and power gum combo. What about rods though ? Try and find a new rod that will go down to 0.8 easliy like the top of the range rods of the late 80’s early nineties.Carp influance obviously. My vote would go to the original Drennan 12ft Crystalite and the original blue ultegra responce 13ft. I wish i could of found another one of those rather that the poker stiff Rive ultra light i shelled out for in haste !

Drennan Logic would be in my top 5, it was probably the first pole with a proper spares package ie spare top kits, cupping kit, bushes and skid bungs. I think it changed the way companies sold pole packages. It was also good to fish with for silvers and carp!
