Is this stuff still being produced? Its the stinkiest, most horrible additive I have ever had the misfortune to try! Just thinking back to it makes me feel sick!

It was rather foul stuff! A mate gave me some to try – it smelt like a male cat had repeatedly urinated in whatever you put it on 😮 Can’t say I noticed any positive effect from it.

I had some results using the PIKE/PREDATOR Ultrabite years ago injected into small deadbaits fishing for Pike. I haven’t seen the stuff in years. Never bothered with the Coarse/Carp Ultrabite.

If all the liquids that came out were dead cert fish catchers, we’d all be using liquid coated hooks and nothing else.

If you find some in a tackle shop it must be 10 year old and unlike whiskey i don’t believe it ages well. 😉

A little story about ultrabite.

Most years, myself and a few mates have a few days away on the Isle of White sea fishing. We aren’t numpties, Most of us can catch fish, cast plenty far enough (a certain Mr P Kerry counts among our number), use the best bait we can, and we meet up with a local expert.

Anyway, this particular evening we were fishing a mark in the Solent. There were four of us sat about 10yds apart (it was a VERY short chuck mark – carp rods being used by some).

We had spiders crab and shore crab peelers.

The result? ‘Peg’ 1 the legend PK had one smut about a pound, ‘Peg’ 3 me had one smut about 12oz. ‘Peg’4 one of the other visitors blanked.

Peg 2, the local expert had loads. First chuck he had a 7lb smut. If I remember rightly he had about another dozen to go with it. He also had three or four bass around the 2.5-3lb mark.

He was doctoring his baits with the sea version of ultrabite.

If I hadn’t been there and seen it with my own eyes I wouldn’t have believed it…

Talk about stink!
When he wasn’t looking I put a dab on a mates fleece collar. A little later I heard the comment ” there’s a god awful smell around here”.
Later still he came around to see how I was doing and commented ” you’ve got that smell here too”

Told him a few years later when I got him again with some active 8.

I gave a sleeve of vials to a speci carp m8, he wanted more a month later,, convinced it worked he was!, said he soaked some boilies in it and had the best session ever!!!
“he did smell like a pikes vagina when he was telling me though”! lol

We did a feed trial once feeding Ultrabite to trout for Skretting.

There was no significant difference in the growth rates (they grow faster if they eat more) of trout fed normal feed pellets or feed pellets coated with ultrabite.

It was nothing to do with me. Leeda did the distribution and they used me in one of the adverts which I wasn’t pleased about as it inferred I used the horrible stuff. For the record, I wasn’t paid anything either.
It had a worse small than the old stink bombs we used to have at school!

Isn’t there some link between Ultrabite and Maryuku ? Sure I read or heard that some of the same team were involved in both !

Yes there is. John Loftus is the man behind both Ultrabite and Marukyu.
At least Marukyu smells considerably better!

Ultrabite, Marukyu and John Loftus. It all makes sense now. The saying “there is one born every minute springs to mind”. It should be printed on every bag or bottle!
