TF_thedogprobably down to the high amonia levels could be something decaying in the waterhave you got all the dead fish out?

TF_Smedhigh ammonia sounds bad to me
nitrite at 2 is a sign that some bactria are trying to break it down but with 0 nitrate its down to your filtaration systemu shouldnt be feeding now and shouldnt have been feeding for the last few weeks, could also be down to rotting vegetation (leaves plants)
also make sure there is a hole in the ice and turn on your air stones! -

TF_ballitinParticipantHi Paul
Hope you’re sorted the pond quality of the water out ,It sounds like it is down to feeding to me and not a big enough filter bed .
You have done the right thing by doing a large water change,I do a partial water change every 2 weeks but remember to use the stuff that takes the chloride out of your tap water .
If you don’t get sorted E-mail me any time with the size of your pond and the size of your filters ,how many fish you had in the pond and their size. It could be a lot of things but we can narrow it down with a bit more information.
You should have stopped feeding the fish now and I keep my pump running all the time, it stops the pond from freezing and also keep the filter beds and the UV going because some waste from the fish will still be being passed ,with the water results you have that sounds like what has happened or you could have had to many fish in the pond for the size of your filters.
ph=6.4 should be around 7.5 to 8.00
amonia=4.0 these both should be 0 and are
nitrite=2.0….caused by fish waste
nitrate=0.0…. With the nitrate being low I would say that this is not a new pond ie within the last few weeks but not a very old pond , anyway go to your local fish/pet shop and you can buy bottles to remove the amonia and nitrites from your pond .Then I would stop feeding your fish ,do not add any more and carry on with the water changes every 2 weeks 25% is enough ,keep testing untill your water readings are back to what they should be .
Good luck and email if you require any more info .

muffypaul how is it going mate, i told you that if you keep fishing for them it would stress them out. so no getting your tackle out and dipping it in the water.
