I find it very strange that the “hot topic” on the forum is currently a poor Cornish Pasty at Gold Valley when the River Wandle has been hit once again by pollution.

For those of you who are not aware, a fire at Beddington SWT earlier this week caused the river to be polluted by raw sewerage. There were a number of fish killed as a result.

From what I gather, both the EA and locals were on the case very quickly which probably saved what could have been a really bad situation.

Trouble is Dave it’s happened and been dealt with so nothing to disuss really ! Just how many more Wandle pollutions are going to happen before something actually gets done about it because compensation costs are relatively cheap to the water companies compared to upgrading their equipment to stop it happening ?

Just on a lighter note I bet there are still more fish in the Wandle than Rye Dyke ? LOL.

You may be right Steve – had a walk by Poulter Park and noted a huge shoal of dace – only about eight dead fish though (most cleaned up yesterday by the EA I am told)
