So fishing here a week on Sunday, on the old Waterloo lake.

Anyone fished any matches here recently.

Same as last year, with all basic commercial methods picking up fish?

the barbel must be getting quite sizeable now?

Any info gratefully received as always.

            hi mate
i won a match on waterloo lake on saturday with 64lb peg 26 i had 7 carp for 30lb and 34lb of chub between 8oz and 1lb 8oz all on pellet wagg right up against the island.
60lb was 2nd that was 7 carp all caught in the margins on corn he had 3 doubles
57lb was 3rd he caught a few early on the method and then on pellet wagg but the fish were in pockets you would get 2 or 3 people catch a few and then others around them struggled.
            hope this helps mate

              Very helpful mate ta,

So the barbel never fed? Our match last year was won with barbel on the waggler?

I had close to 60lb for 2nd and I dont think I saw a chub!

Right, so could be peggy. Where is peg 26 as you look at the lake from the cafe?

              Cheers,

as you look from the cafe peg 26 is 3/4 of the way down the island on the right hand side i had some big plant leaves opposite me and you literally had to skim them with your float otherwise you didnt get a bite and most of the bites came within 5 seconds of your bait being in the water. there was a few barbel caught and they average around 3lb so fight like stink

                  nice one mate,

I was a bit further down last year towards the end of the island.

Sounds like it could be interesting, will let you know how it goes.

Just pellet in your bag or did you try anything else?

                    i fed 8mm pellets and fished an 8mm on a banded hair rig at 12″ deep 0.18 hooklength to a 16 pr36.
i did start on the method and lost a fish 2nd chuck but that was the only bite i had on it i also fed a pole line at 11.5m with 6mm cubes of luncheon meat and i lost a foulhooker on this and got silly bites that i couldnt hit so i just concentrated on the pellet wagg

                      Cheers again mate,

Think I will look at pellet shallow, meat down the margins, and maybe a pellet and micro line, similar to how I fished it last year.

I will have a chuck on the method early and see how it goes.

Of course depends on conditions, if its blowing a gale the wag might be a bit tricky.

                      We shall see…..

                        Fishing this on Sunday.

Weather looks reasonable, anyone know results for matches this last week or so?
