Always sad to hear of something like this, and 51 is no age. Your heart has to go out to his family.

Need to keep it in perspective though. There’s only one death from Weil’s disease every few years in the UK. Compare that to the death rate from smoking: 100,000 people every year.

Many years ago, a man went into acton angling centre. Around about the time they were introuducing leaflets about well’s disease. I think it might of been the time Keith Arthur or Mac McCendo was in charge. Anyway this man looked terrible. It turned out he was fishing at Gunnersbury park, and was pushing a bankstick in, and slipped and cut is hand. He was in the shop, and they were reading the symptoms to him from this phamphlet and he had everyone one of them. He was rushed to hospital, and thanks to that leaflet it saved his life. If you have flu like symptons after fishing or just dont feel yourself get it checked out. Winter is here, so you might just put it down to a cold. Fair enough, but anything out of the ordinary, get it checked. Better safe than being on a drip or more in Hosptial..

gary skerrit was very very ill with it luckily he recovered ~clap ~clap but was ill for a long time
