TF_jonlong story short here, had a young lad working with me yesterday early 20’s i suppose, well we gets talking and i mention fishing, he say’s his old man used to fish before he bugger’d off with some woman a few years back and all his stuffs still in the garage, hmmmmm i thought, well today he says to me his mum wants to get rid of it, so when i dropped him off i had a look,
4 draw match box full with kit.
preston keepnets
mosella landing nets
carbon active feeders and float rods
cm 90 pole, loads of top kits
this is just what i can remember, his mother say’s its mine for £150 !now heres the dilema……… the guy who’s tackle it is, is an absolute nutter! been in prison and all sorts and dont give a sh’t about anything!
do i buy it?
do i leave it?my gut feeling is buy it and make a few quid~think

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantI wouldnt touch it Jon its black eye material ! seriously whilst my brother was away from his place of residence his step son wisley sold his gear for money more than likely to buy coke. For the sake of what was probably only a couple of hundred quid the buyer put his self in a very sticky situation.

TF_PaddySounds like he may have left, BUT, at the end of the day it still belongs to him. It is not the wifes/mothers to sell really is it?
Would you do it in the same position?? -

TF_lp1886I’ll tell you what you should do, give me the address. I’ll go round and offer £200. You are happy, and i will be happy. If he’s a complete nutter, in and out of prison, it’s probably knock off anyway.

Haha brilliant.
If he’s done a runner with another bird the likely hood of him coming back are very very slim anyway.

TF_staffieIde bite her hand off and buy it,at the end of the day if shes said it to you and you dont buy it then she will end up selling it to someone else anyway and in a few weeks time you will kick yourself for not buying it.Just pretend you dont know the story behind it and buy it simples 🙂

whittyyou say he buggered off a few years back, doesn’t sound to me like he will be rushing back. I’d buy it like a shot.

AnonymousI,d be very careful if i was you, what you are talking about basically amounts to theft. Its not hers to sell and if he comes back to find his gear gone and reports it and its traced back to you then you run the very likely risk of having the lot confisacated and could also find yourself in deep water as an accessory knowing that the goods didn’t belong to her in the first place !

TF_MICK THE BOOKIEJon…..When in doubt leave it out mate. Its only fishing tackle at the end of the day,and if it was yours how would you feel if someone(woman/wife)sold it behind your back. Also the son will no doubt tell his Dad if and when they meet up again just who had his gear…..Blood is blood.Could be that the Dad is having a holiday in prison, and when he gets out and goes to pick up his gear he wont just be fishing for fish, but for the geezer who ripped off his Ex……IMO leave well alone, but tell the lad if his Dad wants to sell you would be interested.

Ade1ParticipantJon,
For what it’s worth I have a bit of legal experience (30yrs) and I would suggest you leave well alone.
It’s not hers to sell so if she does so she is technicaly stealing it and you would be buying stolen goods which if he made a complaint to the police and pushed the matter you could find yourself with problems.
Secondly if he is a person who has been in prison a few times he may have no scruples as to how he exacts any retribution over who has his tackle.Regards

did i see you in veals this morning, if so you should of got me to do your top kits and saved a few quid haha.Right she offerd me the gear and a note to say it was hers to sell but i have decided to leave it, i dont need the gear, it was just greed and the idea of a nice profit sneaking in.
