going back a few years, but

no bait to be loose fed, and he would kick you off if you did!!

his words were, there are enough fish in here you dont need to fed anything,

this was the craziest rule on his 8ftx4ft rule board containg 20 odd rules,

needless to say, the lake has closed now.

One bloke in my club said that he used to fish matches where nothing was allowed to enter the water until the whistle went!

Previous club I was in, you were not allowed to chuck a bomb or a feeder out before the all in, quite a common rule, its ok to chuck a waggler out though.

Boilies are banned. Then 4 lines down boils to be used in moderation  I think I still have the permit that this was in if I am able to find it I will upload a copy of the rules.

Not sure if it still the same but i lived in Jersey 25 years ago. There where 5 lakes/small reservoirs on the island for course fishing. You could not lose feed and ground bait was banned. I soon got around that by feeding wet clay/mud taken from the bank and that trick worked a treat with bread punch as hook bait, lol

                      Meadow View Fisheries,
BARBLESS hooks only, size 14 max.
No braided lines, no hair rigs or bolt rigs.
                      Baits permitted:
Maggots, plain sweetcorn, worm (max 1 kilo washed), plain luncheon meat (may be put through a riddle), pellet (must be bought from the fishery), most baits can be bought from the fishery. Only the fisheries own hook pellets (They are crap)!

                      Bait Bans:
Groundbait, Bloodworm, joker, floating baits, paste, boilies, nuts, dog biscuits, all seed baits, cat meats, bread and all additives are not permitted for use at Meadow View Fisheries.
A maximum of 14.5 m pole to be used in matches

Please use the toilets provided and NOT the banks or surrounds of the fishery.

THE RULES WILL BE ENFORCED. BREAKING THE RULES WILL RESULT IN A BAN FROM THE FISHERY

Several have been banned and many dont fish this fishery because of the rules. Shame as it has the potential to be a great venue.

                        Sounds like Cudmore last time I went 🙂 🙂 😀 😀 🙂 🙂 😮 😮 😮 😮

Unless the rules have changed since i was last at Cudmore. You can use everything except cat meat. Nothing else is banned! Using the fisheries own pellets for feed is the only stipulation on baits. Thats reasonable for me and is normal on many fisheries. They are Skrettings so no issues there. You can even get a sack for a very reasonable price if you want. I still get my crushed pellet from Cudmore when im up there.

All normal rigs are allowed on Cudmore as fare as i know.

Have the rules changed at Cudmore, Gloves007uk???

no continuous spraying of feed with a catapult on the pole line, you can still feed with a catapult on the pole line but not continuous spraying, had the fishery owner stand behind us on a club match telling us we were not adherring to his new rules as he thought once every 20 minutes with the catty was adequate! Same fishery banned pellet wagglers as it draws carp away from the margins, however now allowed!!!!!

Went to a fishery once for a ‘float only’ match, only to be told by the owner that it was a float only, but you could fish the method

But then again at the same place, upon ordering my breakfast I asked for toast, to be told….’got no toast mate we only got bread’

Strange rules at another place would be ‘no pole-cups’ and no ‘air-rigging'(as written on the board)….I think they meant Hair-rigging 😀

Not a fishery rule but a rule that was imposed in our old winter league for years and years,

“No bloodworm or joker to be used”,

I hated this rule, absolutly hated it, I thought it was short sighted, naive and fundamentally flawed, no argument I have ever heard from the supporters of such a ridiculous rule has ever stood up under scutiny, there is no doubt at all that this rule has been instrumental in holding back the development of many, many dedicated teams and their anglers in this Country for years, and purely because of geographical reasons………… an absoulutely proposterous rule. 🙁

One venue near me has a very long list of rules and from memory there were a few weird ones that i cannot bring to mind but the NO FISH TO BE UNHOOKED BY USING SCISSORS, sticks in my memory maybe he meant forceps who knows.

One of my club waters bait bans are over the top,,, it states only baits to be used are: maggots, worms, sweetcorn and bread as hook bait only, problem is its 15ft deep and stuffed with roach and Rudd that intercept anything that hits the water

I have heard a rule at Hill view.. Pellets are not to be wetted. Your only alowed to feed them dry???

I also like the one of No Halibutt pellets??? ….so can anyone tell me how they Monitor Halibut Groundbait going in??

Woodlandview dont like you wetting pellets either because the have caught anglers using paste.

What about, how many times do you go to a fishery to see a sign that reads ” All nets must be dipped ” to find nothing in the tank !!! 😮 😮 😮 😮

I’ve been to some fisheries where the “dip” in the tanks makes you wretch when you go near it, can’t be good 😮

No hair-rigging is always one that’s puzzled me!

It was a few years ago now but it did make me laugh when Barford lakes banned the use of pellets so anglers were punching out bits of raw potato and then dying them in camp coffee to colour them.
Obviously mush better for the fish than coarse pellets designed for all coarse fish!!!!

Also the rule regarding not overwetting your pellets at Woodlands view is a joke really. As long as you only use the allowed pellets in the allowed amount, then why should there be rules as what you can do to them? They all break down to a groundbait in a short amount of time anyway.
The only reason anglers want to wet them is so you are able to fish them on the hook so you are fishing what you feed, but wet them to much and your disqualified.
