when fishing choppy & only using a small bit of worm for the hook say half or less, which end of the worm do you use – the red pointed bit at the top or the bottom bit or doesn’t it make any difference

i always use the head and hook it through the chopped off end where all the juices are coming out.

Just ask the fish first, and then hook that end…

always through the top for me, thread the hook through so the points coming out of the side, most days you will get away with a 14,s hook.dont be afraid to experiment with half or a full worm if your getting pestered with small fish or you suspect bigger fish have moved in.

worms have bristles that help them move through the earth. Anyone that has snitched worms off the lawn at night knows that they use these bristles to keep themselves in the ground when you or a bird tries to pull them out.

All fish eating birds and fish swallow fish head first to stop any spines etc catching in their throats so presumably fish would naturally swallow a worm tail first so that the bristles fold down as the the worm goes down the throat.

I tend to put the hook in the head of the worm and when using a worm chopped in half put the bottom half on in the cut bit.
