AnonymousBook in for your matches when you go to get your fishing permit from the tackle shop. You need the permit before your allowed to fish anyway. You need to be booked-in, in advance for the residence matches. I fish the Gold match and the Rover. So, need to be booked in before Sunday evening. The Gold match is fished on Monday. So, you might be able to book in for the Silver match and Rover later than Sunday evening. Well worth watching the Gold match on Monday to get an idea of what methods and baits are working best( Just stay well back from the margins and you should not have a problem in watching. Dont worry about the better pegs on the day as the wind can change things very quickly between Monday and Wednesday on many of the match lakes!
8 pints of bait is a lot of bait if you dont complicate things to much.
Have a read of the residents match rules and bait limits. Make sure you have 3 keep nets as there is a 60lb weight limit per net. Almost all of the lakes are capable of 100lb plus weights!!!
Think along the lines of 3 pints of 6ml meat or corn. 1 pint of hemp. 4 pints of pellets (2 pints micro,s and 2 pints of 6mls) or (3 pints of micro,s and 1 pint of 8mls). or you could just take 8 pints of pellets of various sizes. If your worried about running out of bait. Dont feed the margins until the last 2 hours of the match. However, lots of anglers are just dumping the ground bait in the margins so there is something there for when the fish arrive.
I personally like more meat or corn and hemp and less pellets for White Acres lakes. Suits the way i like to fish and covers more options imho So, for me i would normally take 4 pints of 6ml meat or corn. 2 pints of hemp. 2 pints of micro,s or 8mls. A few dead red maggots and boilies for the hook. I dont normally feed ground bait in the margins but i do make plenty of paste. The extra ground bait can be used for the method feeder if needed.
If your new to White Acres. Fish methods that suit your strengths. Plenty of fish to be caught from all the lakes and many of the pegs on lots of different methods and baits. Although, there are some better pegs than other. So, drawing a good peg always helps!
Hope this helps and good luck.

TF_CraftytaftyI don’t think you can take 4 pints of meat or corn and 2 pints of hemp, only 4 pints combined of meat/ corn/ maggs/ casters/ hemp.
you can take 8 pints of pellets, but then nothing else except worms/ bread, gbait or mini boiliesI’ve just come back from 2 weeks there and don’t reckon I used 8 pints total in 2 golds and 2 rovers.
If you lash bait in you will kill your peg. A lot of people are starting in the margins with a lot of success.
The guy who won the Gold last week didn’t feed a single thing till 4 hours into the match. He had half a dozen lumps on meat without feeding anything, not even a single cube of meat and then picked up his bomb rod and it never stopped going round without feeding a single pellet or piece of meat.
a guy on the silver match on T/O 16 fished close all day for 106lb and fed nothing. -

TF_slappythis will be my 4th time now,
but never done too many matches there just at home!
So is it ok to have half pint dead maggots few boiles as hook baits aswell then?
Was thinking about having good bit meat, pint hemp and rest 4+6mm aswell as having 2kilos groundbait which could be turned into paste if needs be!
With the paste front does that have t to be included in with the 8 pints?
will book up when get permits like normal,Just hope feel better been ill all week due to illness worse comes be a weeks chilling on the bank which ain t all bad!!
health comes first :rolleyes:Is it ok to have a few 8mm as hook baits too?
many thanks

TF_slappyYour bait allowance is 8 pints made up of carp/coarse
pellets, combined maggots and casters, meat, corn and
hemp. You cannot have more than 4 pints of combined
maggots and casters, meat, corn and hemp. You can have
8 pints of pellet but you are then not allowed any other
bait with you, other than from the additional bait list.
Additional Baits
• A maximum of 1 kilo of worms.
• A maximum of 2 kilos of groundbait
(including your paste).
• A maximum of half a loaf of bread.
• 1 small tub of mini boilies up to 10mm.
All of the above bait allowances refer to the amount of
bait that you are allowed to take to the lake/your peg.
All baits must be prepared and ready to use.
Surface/floating baits are not permitted and no balling
in. You may catapult or throw small walnut sized balls.
Please do not abuse this rulesorted know whats what now 😀
now time go doctors get bloody better
cheers chaps

TF_JohnHLast post sums it all up and is very clear. Note the point about the bait at your peg, many have been disqualified after odds and sods of bait was found in carryalls etc so please check that the bait you have complies with the list and you have no more anywhere.
Also be aware of other rules such as pegging your nets out behind you before the match. One winning youngster was disqualified when I was down when the guy next to him complained he had put his nets in too soon. He only complained after the match was weighed in but to his credit the youngster owned up to his error.
If you break the rules there is a good chance you will be caught. -

TF_slappypegging ya nets behind you??
whys that john?
Yes are matches here are same 15mins b4 match,Never knew about bait inside carryalls best clear them out b4 match 😀
Are you allowed glugs tho and dips?just got back from hospital x ray ok but waiting on doc from BRI as think here want me come up see him
Are there any maxium size fish allowed in nets anyone know??

TF_JohnHSlappy, no maximm fish size in nets but there is a weight limit in total you can have in one net. Think bait dips are ok but check with the lodge guys who are helpfull. Nets have to be pegged out behind you to dry and only put into the water 15mins before the match.
The rules seem excessive but there is logic behind all of them. I speak as someone who has fished down there for a long time and can remember maggots by the tray full, pellets by the sackfull, and cat meat by the pallet full routinely taken to pegs.
I am sure Clint could write a book on some of the stunts he has found, many dont become public knowledge of course! -

TF_slappyIt all makes sense as i have had a cracking days on alot of the lakes down there and all i have used ita bag of there 6mm pellets 😀
All new to me the rover silver matches so will be good,As Long as i get there
I have seen Soooooo many people down there with tonnes of different baits putting it in as you would if feeding a stock pond 😮
Must admit looking forward to a day on jennys which is my fav lake! But eery is bloody nice too :p
Lets just hope The mrs and young son do too 😎
