What you all using for your rigs, in particular, 2ft from the island and 3ft deep I used 4 x 10 4 x 12 chimps last week and I had a few fish but was wondering is there a better pattern float to use for this maybe a shorter body ? Also the wind were blasting down I had an awfull cross wind constantly picking my pole up and spinning me round on my box when its like this do you fish with a bigger pattern float and nail it with back shot or do you let your rig wonder about ? Thanks for replies Anthony

I used to spend a fair bit of time at Tunnel Barn and if you have ever been there it is fairly exposed to the elements!

A lot of the water is canal type and if the wind was particularly bad then a small cage feeder with 6″ hooklength would be the best way to target the far bank.

That said, I did manage to win a Winter League up there in a gale fishing 16 metres! It was a case of waiting for the wind to drop and getting 15-20 seconds of proper presentation and normally a fish (thinking back I snared a few on the waggler too).

In my experience, the worse the weather the better the fishing and sometimes you may not need to target far bank features quite so religiously.

Hillbilly Billy Bobs are perfect for this, in calm conditions try a Frostie.

Off the shelf you will struggle to find the perfect float, or at least I have struggled to find it.
