Woodland Thirsk – Mallard / Dragon Fly

Hi guys , got a 4 match series between about 10 of us early next month , fishing friday to monday , probably be later fishing times than usual , we have 2 on mallard 1 on dragonfly , not sure about the last one yet , Does anyone have any info on the lakes as ive not been before, depths /baits/methods etc, expected weights? best thing to do mate is ring woodlands tackle on 01845 526110. ask to speak to Jim or Craig Kent. they run the shop which is literally 30yrds away from those lakes. there used to be a lot of skimmers in there as well as carp but they lost a lot if not all over the big freeze last winter but fairly sure they have been restocked quite recently. dont fish on there myself as the opens are generally the rectangular lakes ie partridge, skylark . curlew , wagtail and kestrel. like i said give them a call great lads , who’ll gladly give you the info you req

Hello mate, I fished Mallard last week and had 81 carp from 6oz to about 9lb, mainly new stockys though and a load of skimmers. Mainly caught on 6mm expander fished over micros 😉

thanks mate , did you fish short for them? depth? just thinking about rigs.

Caught on everything I tried mate, Pole at 13meters and on my top 2 in front of me, the lakes are approx 4-5ft depth and the corner pegs tend to be the fliers but since it was re-stocked the carp appear to be everywhere.

Yes it is mate corners fish well and method up the gaps between the islands which are about twenty meters from bank. Think peg 10,can be reached with the pole.
