I have never done this or actually seen it done but I wondered if it would be legal under NFA rules to leave your pole in its rests pointing out over the river / lake with NO RIG ON while you fish the feeder or wag and so enabling you to feed the pole line accurately with the catty~think ~think ~think

Not cheating but not worthwhile either in my opinion !!!

If you was using a catty to fed then you obviously wouldn’t be that bothered about getting your feed tight so why bother??? Pointless really.

I have seen this done before but on the fen drains some time ago. Anglers putting a pole out to stop floating weed and then give them a clear area to fish in! If you go by NFA rules then no…Here is rule 10
              10. A competitor shall have in use one rod or pole, one line and one single hook at one time, but may have other rods and poles assembled behind him/her.

Yes it is, you can only use one rod (or pole) at a time.
Rig on or not, you are still ‘using’ it!

Probably a good twenty years ago I used to regularly see people using click together plumbing pipes wedged across canals for the same type of thing….. Being a nurse (at the time) I was very jealous of the plumbers with a VAN and access to this type of equipment at no expense!

Got a mate who always hangs a rod over the margins so that when he goes on to that line late in the match the fish are used to a pole over the top of them. Not sure if it makes a difference but he’s convinced.

Just put the kids to bed and was thinking… I’m sure it was the Autumn when this was normally done and attempting to minimise the effect of the leaves falling.

I had a two year break from match fishing recently, and one of the venues I fish, Cross Drove in Suffolk has less rules then the average fishery. Anglers started cupping in bait and a straight lead together with their bail arm off! It was cleaning up in matches. Its since been banned!
The lengths some anglers go to for an advantage? Even though if you are not accurate at pole distance then I would want to be sat next to that angler! LOL

Just pull the catapult back the same distance each time!

should be illegal imo, just learn how to use a catty simple
