I know its not the sellers fault, but basically after getting some sections smashed in from a courier I’m 99% reluctant to use couriers anymore, even though i feel i might be missing out.
I know you can insure but is it worth the hassle or am i being paranoid?

Howya Baitchef – without naming any names, there has been plenty of hassle with smashed stuff, lost stuff and stuff that has just not arrived and that is off these TF buys and sells boards.
If i was going to do a private buy, i would, as you say, make sure that it is insured, or arrange to meet the sellar.
Courriers can be a nightmare and i wish i had a tenner for every bad story that i have listened to.
Packaging the sections correctly is half the battle i reckon. The last lot i sent cost twice as much as normall just because of the weight aspect, but they got there ok.
And no, i dont think you are paraniod on this one.

Only had one major problem myself which was last year when the dear old Royal Mail totally trashed a Pellet Wag Rod. I hand it to them as it must of took some doing as I always pack bomb proof. About five years ago I sold a Garbo S/L and I did have a sleepless night after seeing the cretin who collected it from the post office litrally lobbing it in the back of his van before piling on top a mountain of other boxes. Probably more luck then judgement the pole arrived OK. Now I wouldn’t trust the post office with anything of reasonable value,

I guess I am in the good position as spend most of my week travelling, always arrange to meet up with people when possible, that way both parties are happy when the deal is completed. I recently purchased from floats although very very well packaged most were broken on arrival via royal mail, to smash the packaging they most have jumped up and down on them!!
