Sheffield’s daunting Dam Flask Reservoir has long been known to hold some big chub – but they have been mighty hard to catch.

Not so for local angler Chris Smith, who has landed the same fish twice within a week at 7lb 8oz and an unconfirmed weight of 7lb 13oz.

Either way, we think it’s a new Yorkshire record. According to our research, the county’s biggest chub previously was a fine 7lb 6oz chub from the River Swale, although someone once claimed to have caught an eight pounder from the Yorkshire Derwent.

Chris was going for chub and tempted the big fish from the day ticket water on Trigga Ice paste, hair rigged on a size 6 Raptor hook. Venue latest 07973 442953.
