Partridge Lakes in Warrington hosted the 22nd round of Fish ‘O’ Mania qualifiers with only two more to go until 24 of the country’s best anglers go head to head at the Cudmore final.

Fantastic warm conditions greeted the 127 competitors with 14 anglers breaking the ‘ton’ barrier and many more coming very close. Individually it went right to the wire with the top three anglers separated by just 10lb.

Edging the victory and qualifying for the final was St Helens angler Steven Hamilton. Steve did just enough putting 150lb 6oz on the scales from Covey peg 95. His catch comprised of F1s and carp to 5lb, taken by alternating between pellets and maggots over groundbait.

Coming in a close second was Franek Staniusko with a level 146lb from Covey peg 54. The Huddersfield ace caught mainly F1s, although his biggest fish was a mirror of 7lb on maggot over groundbait.

Simon Stott clinched third spot on the day from Covey peg 2. Simon amassed 140lb 11oz in the five hours and caught F1s and carp to 7lb fishing caster shallow.

Shaun Cooke was fourth with 128lb 14oz from Covey peg 5 and Chris Kendall fifth with 119lb 9oz from Willow peg 17.

Thanks to Dave Ikin and his team at Partridge for hosting this round of the qualifiers. Next round is at Gold Valley Lakes on Saturday, 17th June. Online bookings are closed for the event but there will still be a small number of tickets available on the day at the fishery.
