The River Severn has produced what’s thought to be the fourth biggest zander ever landed in the UK.

Zander are not native to the river, but have thrived on the big river’s silver fish population and indeed the Severn produced the current British record of 21lb 5oz in 2007. Like that one, the latest big zander weighing 19lb 12oz was caught by accident by an angler fishing for barbel using a boilie hook bait.
