ROD Hutchinson has become the new title sponsor of the World Carp Classic.

The premier name in carp tackle has joined forces with the premier carp event to create the perfect team.

Now moving into its sixth year, the World Carp Classic brings together carp anglers from all across the world to compete for a £10,000 first prize and a £25,000 prize table.

Rod Hutchinson himself leads by example and the products that bare his name are a classic range of innovative rods, bivvies, chairs and a host of tackle-related accessories.

Landing the World Carp Classic adds to the Rod Hutchinson roll of honour – he bagged his biggest fish in 2003 and now has secured the World Carp Classic for 2004.

Rod said: “I am delighted to be able to put my name alongside that of this great event.

“Any enduro fishing event which gives anglers so much lake time and the opportunity to catch fish for such great prizes has got to be welcomed.

“The World Carp Classic brings together carp anglers from all over the world and I can’t wait to see our team battling it out alongside them.”

The 2004 World Carp Classic in association with Rod Hutchinson will return to the record-breaking Lac Amance, Foret d’Orient, in the Champagne region of France, scene of the most prolific World Carp Classic to date. In the 2001 event, the 200-plus international field caught nearly 1 TON of carp!

The World Carp Classic is a unique 66-hour enduro event fished over three nights with four rods per pair. In addition to the fishing, the World Carp Classic has also made a name for itself with the famous pre-match BBQ and party – and 2004 will be no different.

For the second year running the event will have an official marshalling team from Sparsholt, in Hampshire, the specialist fishing college.

A new website at www.worldcarpclassic.com  will keep competitors informed of developments.
