Look after every pike you catch this season

That’s the message from the Pike Anglers Club, as another winter predator campaign gets under way.

“As we move into autumn, we know many anglers’ thoughts will be turning towards pike and we wish them all a successful winter’s fishing,” said PAC secretary Mark Barrett.
“We also know the coming weeks and months will see a lot of people out on the bank pike fishing for the first time.

“We’d urge everyone to gear up with strong tackle, strike promptly and have the right tools on hand to unhook and return a pike quickly.

“Much of the pleasure of pike fishing is knowing that these fragile predators, which play such an important role in our fisheries go back unharmed, to carry on doing their job.”
Formed to campaign to protect both the pike and pike fishing, the 2,500-strong PAC has just celebrated its 30th anniversary with its biggest-ever convention.

The club has more events on offer than ever before for pike anglers this winter. Fish to 39lbs 8oz were caught on waters the PAC enjoys privileged access to last season.

Its network of local branches have a packed programme of speakers and slide shows lined up for the coming campaign and they’re a great way to hetwork with fellow pike fans.
