With the settled cold temperatures the river fishing has been badly affected. At Wyboston the river Gt Ouse is running clear and cold with little action over the past week.
Nearby the cold has affected North House Lake with very little showing. On the South Lagoon the predator anglers are fairing better. Eddie Kemp caught a nice 17lb pike, Steve Briggs had one at 10lb, Terry Willison had pike of 12 and 8lbs and a zander of 10lbs and finally Alan Bradshaw had zander of 8lb and 7lbs.

At Beckerings Reservoir the fishing is slowing but carp are still coming out. Overnight on Saturday a double figure carp and a decent bream came to the net and at midday on Saturday Lewis Walker aged 11 fishing with his father caught a 14lb 10oz common carp on a tutti fruiti boilie.

The fishing on the Grand Union canal is still worth the effort. The cold spell has kept a lot of anglers from the bank and the middle part of last week saw the canal freeze over but it was clear for the weekend. The matchmen fishing the winter league either side of The Globe on Sunday could not of imagined that the 37 anglers attending would amass 228lb of fish. It could have been a heavier weight as a number of anglers were plagued by a near double figure pike. Here are the top 3 placings:-

1)         Matt Cole          Tring                             27lb                  skimmers

2)         J Lloyd             Colmic                          21lb 1oz            skimmers +

5lb carp

3)         Mark Hedges     Milton Keynes               16lb 1oz            skimmers

This Sunday it is the Luton A C Impey Cup and Knockout Shield 3rd round to be fished on the R. Ouse at the Wyboston Lakes Complex.
