Dr Mackay is former President of the Scottish Anglers’ National Association, and Chairman of the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust.

Prior to his retirement Dr Mackay was Director for SEPA’s North Region, and he is currently a member of the SEPA North Board, as well as Chairman of EnviroCentre, an environmental consultancy company which is a spin off from Strathclyde University.

“The Sea Trout Group has accomplished a great deal during the last 18 months in terms of lobbying and bringing the concerns of anglers to the fore,” said Dr Mackay.

“We are now approaching a crucial period when proposals for the new Fisheries Bill, which will include a section on aquaculture, will be published. The Sea Trout Group intends to ensure that the concerns and opinions of ordinary anglers are well-represented in the corridors of power.”

Anthony Steel, who has been Chairman of the Sea Trout Group since 2003, will now act as Treasurer.

Fiona Cameron, who worked as a lobbyist for the Sea Trout Group for over 18 months, has left to take up another post.

“Fiona has done a magnificent job, but her career is now taking her on to other things,” said Dr Mackay.
