Leicester ace Joe Oakes won this Wednesday Wychavon Championship qualifier at Evesham, with a 10-8-0 net of quality roach. Drawn on unfancied peg 42, Joe fished hemp on the long pole, to put together a quality net of 42 roach for a final weight of 10-8-0.

Runner up was local rod, Simon Pickering. His net included a truly special fish, in the shape of a tench that weighed in at over 7lb! Simon caught the monster on lobworms fished in the main flow, and lost another fish of a similar size!

Rob South has been enjoying a productive season at Evesham so far this year, and built on his good start with another frame place from peg 34. Rob caught 8-5-0 of eels, perch and chublets on flatfloat and lobworm tactics, fished on the long pole.
