REPORT

MOLANDS   The first really heavy frosts of the winter at the start of the week saw the fishing get harder but as it turned milder Molands fished better.  The F1’s are providing the best of the action with fish to 5lb to nets to 50lb.  Pellet feeder fishing up to the island with banded pellet or punched bread and the pole with maggot down the first shelf have been the best tactics.  Top pegs 2, 8, 13, 23, 29, 43 – 46 and 56 – 60.

GEARYS   The frost has affected sport on Gearys which is always hit hardest by the cold weather as it is the shallowest water.  Skimmers started to show at the weekend but were very patchy and pole fished pellet or caster over ground bait was the best approach as nets to 20lb were caught.  A few carp are coming to bomb and bread but it is a waiting game at the moment.  Fishery regular Johnny Johnson sat on peg 36 and caught five fish to 11lb using this tactic.

LITTLE GEARYS   Fished fairly well through the week with F1’s, skimmers and a few better carp being caught.  A small pellet feeder up to the island or maggot feeder fished

¾ way across have been the successful tactics this week.  Pole fished maggot or caster has also worked particularly later in the day fished down the first shelf.  Best pegs 5 – 15 and 24 – 29.

GRATUITIES   Fished quite hard for most of the week with the corner pegs providing the best of the action producing crucians, skimmers and the odd bonus tench and carp.  Pole fished pellet or caster the top tactic.

WILLOW   A feeder or waggler to the island has accounted for the better catches with F1’s and carp to 3lb providing the best of the action.

SIBLINGS A & B   The horseshoe pool, Siblings B is the better pool at the moment with F1’s, carp and tench coming to float fished maggot or expander pellet.  Siblings is very patchy with pegs 17 – 21 the most consistent and carp to 6lb have been caught on corn or pellet.
