REPORT

MOLANDS   This pool is responding well to a variety of tactics at the moment.  Pole fished pellet, caster or paste all producing mixed nets with F1’s to 1½lb, bream to 3lb, crucians to 1lb, tench to 5lb and the odd carp.  The best approach for the bigger carp is to fish the pellet feeder or method feeder tight up to the island with polony, 6mm pellet or meat on the hook which are accounting for fish to 10lb.  The best pegs are 4, 10 – 14, 19, 27 – 31, 42 – 48 and 52 – 56.

GEARYS   The heavy rain through the week put a few much needed inches of water into Gearys but did affect sport at the weekend with the carp switching off on all but a few pegs.  Plenty of skimmers showing and the extra water should bring the top end back into form over the next week.  Pole fished worm and caster are best for silvers and method feeder with meat, corn or pellet are working best for carp to double figures.  Top pegs are 9 – 13, 16, 19, 27 – 32 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS   The top pool for matches at the moment with some excellent catches made this week.  Mick Bull came within ounces of breaking his own lake record with 135lb during Wednesday’s Open.  Mick took carp to 4lb and F1’s on the pellet feeder and meat/pellet from peg 15.  Lots of F1’s being caught on paste or pellet fished down the near margin as well as the middle island along with skimmers, tench and crucian carp.  Every peg capable of decent catches but the windward end is usually the most prolific.

GRATUITIES   Gratuities is still in good form with tench, crucians and carp being caught to a variety of methods.  Pole fished pellet or caster is best for crucians to over 1lb and anglers have caught bags of 40lb or more.  The tench go to 6lb with lots of fish in the 2 – 4lb range and bigger baits such as 8mm pellet, meat or paste are working best for these along with carp in the 2 – 6lb bracket.   Best pegs 1 – 3, 8 – 10 and 16.

ANNIVERSARIES   Tench, skimmers and crucians have provided most of the action on Anniversaries with pellet, paste and caster all accounting for good catches.  There are lots of features to fish to on this pool, with the island and far bank bushes.  Pole fishing for these has given the best results.  Top pegs are 1- 6, 10, 14, 15, 17 and 19.

WILLOW   This popular pool has been fishing well with lots of carp from 3 – 6lb being caught along with tench, skimmers and crucians.  Most pegs are producing with the near margin having the action on paste and pellet or a small feeder up to the island with meat or pellet on the hook.

SIBLINGS   Some cracking bags of crucian carp have come off Siblings this week with anglers reporting catches of 100+ fish from 8oz – 1½lb.  Pole fished pellet, caster or small bits of paste have been working best.  Carp to 10lb, tench and skimmers have also featured in nets this week.

REPORT

MOLANDS   Pleasure anglers have had some terrific mixed nets of F1’s, crucians, skimmers and tench, fishing paste or pellet down the near shelf at 2 – 5 metres.  The bigger carp along with tench to 6lb have been coming to the pellet or method feeder fished across to the island fishing tight but dropping down the shelf as bites slow down.  Best pegs are 1 – 5, 10 – 19, 29 – 31, 37, 43 – 46 and 52 – 60.

GEARYS   The slightly deeper water along the high bank on pegs 7 – 13 and across the far side from 30 – 36 have been the better pegs.  Carp to 15lb and bream to 3lb have featured in catches this week with the pellet waggler, straight lead and pellet and paste or pellet on the pole all accounting for decent nets.

LITTLE GEARYS   The fish may not be huge but they certainly make up for it with quality and quantity.  F1’s from ½lb – 4lb, carp to 5lb, tench, skimmers and lots of crucians being caught at the moment.  Paste or pellet down the near margin, shallow pole and pellet and method feeder across to the island have all been producing some cracking nets this week.  Best pegs are 7 – 12, 15, 19, 21 and 24 – 28.

GRATUITIES   If you want to catch tench, Gratuities is the pool with lots of fish from
1 – 4lb and the odd fish over 6lb coming out.  Carp from 1 – 3lb also showing in numbers along with crucians and skimmers.  Best tactic is to fish meat, corn or a bed of micro pellets either on the feeder or the pole at 10 – 13 metres.

ANNIVERSARIES   Plenty of silver fish coming to caster, maggot or small expander pellets with every peg capable of producing mixed nets of skimmers, roach and rudd.  The tench and carp have been showing better at the top end on the early pegs 1 – 6 with float fished meat or pellet producing tench and carp to 6lb.

WILLOW   This is a very popular pool with every peg producing good fishing.  To keep it simple, caster, pellet or corn down the edge for best results.  Carp to double figures, tench to 5lb and lots of F1’s, crucians and skimmers being caught.

WILLOW   Another pool in excellent form with carp, tench, skimmers and crucians being caught all around the pool.  Float fished pellet or paste down the near margin is the best tactic.

CRESCENT/ALDER/FIRST BAY/REEDY BAY   All of the small pools have been producing consistent sport over the past week with carp, tench, skimmers, rudd and criucians all feeding well.  Pole fished pellet or corn has been the best approach on all of these pools.

RIVER BLYTHE   The River has benefited from the rain towards the weekend and plenty of chub in the 6oz – 1 ½ lb range have been caught on float fished maggot or caster.

REPORT

MOLANDS   Fishing pretty well all the way round the pool with mixed nets of skimmers, F1’s, crucians, tench and the odd carp.  Paste or pellet fished down the near margin or method /pellet feeder fished up to the island or down the shelf, three or four metres from the island.  Pleasure anglers have enjoyed the best of the action especially in the evenings with match weights to over 60lb caught this week.  Best pegs are 2, 8 – 12, 19, 27 – 35, 43 – 46 and 50, 54 and 60.

GEARYS   In good form with some decent carp being caught at the moment with fish to 18lb caught in matches this week.  The most productive methods this week have been the method feeder with pellet or meat, paste down the edge and pellet waggler.  The northerly winds have pushed the bulk of the fish into the high bank and down into the bottom bay with pegs 7 – 15, 19 and 31 – 37 the best area at the moment.

LITTLE GEARYS   In excellent form at the moment with every peg capable of producing nets to over 50lb in matches and pleasure anglers have reported catches of carp and F1’s to over 100lb.  Method feeder out to the island or paste/pellet down the near margin have been the best tactics with F1’s.carp, skimmers, crucians and quality roach being caught all around the pool.

GRATUITIES   Carp to 4lb and tench to 5lb have been the most predominant species at the moment with pleasure catches to over 80lb reported this week.  Pole fished pellet or meat or feeder fished to the middle island have accounted for the better catches.  Best pegs are 1- 3, 8 and 15 and 16.

ANNIVERSARIES   Good nets of tench in the 2 – 4lb range are coming out along with plenty of rudd, roach, skimmers and crucians.  Float fished pellet, paste or meat fished up to the island has been the best approach.

SIBLINGS   Fishing very well, particularly crucians in the 8oz – 1lb mark and anglers have caught these all day on float fished pellet or corn.  Carp to 14lb and plenty around the 5 – 7lb mark also being caught along with tench and skimmers.  The top end on the reed beds has been the best area.

WILLOW   Another pool in excellent form with carp, tench, skimmers and crucians being caught all around the pool.  Float fished pellet or paste down the near margin is the best tactic.

REEDY BAY/FIRST BAY/ALDER/CRESCENT   All of these small pools have been popular through the summer holiday with children good sport from carp, tench, crucians and roach on pole fished paste or pellet.

RIVER BLYTHE   The River has improved recently with the rain over the past week putting a little colour into it and it has been small chub in the 8oz – 1lb bracket that has been providing the best sport.  Maggot on the stick has been the best approach.

REPORT

MOLANDS   There was an improvement in the fishing over the past week with more carp showing including quite a few doubles.  The best approaches have been to fish paste or pellets down the near shelf or close to any reed beds for carp, tench, crucians and skimmers or the pellet/method feeder with micros mixed with a small amount of ground bait chucked up to the island with banded hard pellet, small chunks of meat or dead red maggot for carp to 14lb.  The best pegs are 2, 8, 12 – 19, 25, 29 – 31, 43 – 46, 54, 57 and 60.

GEARYS   This pool was in excellent form last week with lots of carp and skimmers showing all around the pool.  Match weights to 124lb were caught and pleasure anglers reported estimated 100lb+ catches as well.  Pole and paste have been working well for mixed nets fishing right up to the near margin in 18” of water.  Another top tactic is to ‘ping’ 8mm pellet and fish over them on the waggler or straight lead and this is accounting for the bigger nets of carp.  Best pegs are 7, 9 – 15, 19, 21, 27, 29 – 32 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS   Still the most prolific pool on the complex with the F1’s and carp feeding very well and being caught on a variety of tactics.  The method up to the island is accounting for the bigger samples with fish from 1 – 5lb falling to small pieces of polony or banded pellet.  Pole and paste is working really well producing mixed nets of F1’s, carp, tench, skimmers and crucians.  Best pegs are 7 – 13, 21 and 24 – 27.

GRATUITIES   Another pool in great form with lots of tench in the 2 – 4lb range and carp to 8lb being caught from all areas.  Pole or float fished meat, corn and pellet is the top tactic with a small feeder up to the island a good alternative.  Best pegs are 1- 3, 8, 9, 11 and 15.

ANNIVERSARIES    Some excellent bags of tench being caught from the early pegs
1 – 4 with fish up to 6lb falling to float fished, worm, corn or meat.  Around the pool, mixed nets of carp, tench, skimmers, crucians and quality roach are being caught fishing pellet or caster or the pole up to any of the island or near bank features.

SIBLINGS   There have been a lot of carp in the 4 – 10lb bracket caught in the last week with straight lead and pellet or meat fished down the margin accounting for the better catches.  Plenty of tench, crucians and skimmers are also showing with float fished caster, pellet, worm and meat all producing decent nets.  The top end by the reed beds is the best area but generally fishing well all round the pool.

WILLOW   Plenty of carp from 1 – 4lb, F1’s and tench coming out to pellet or corn fished close in.  The bigger carp up to 15lb have been taken on floating baits such as dog biscuit or bread fished out to the middle island.

CRESCENT   This pool is really good for carp to 8lb, tench, skimmers, roach and even the odd chub to 2½lb.  It is advisable to just fish paste really close down to the near margin in water as shallow as 12” for the better catches.
